What is all this wart stuff anyway?

We are going to investigate a few things about warts. They are:

  • How some people use the word WART

  • Some animals that hog WARTs

  • What do  WARTs look like?

  • How to make your own real looking hairy WARTs (your parents will love this!)

Some people use WART as a word that means what. For example:

"I wonder wart he went?"

"Wart would have caused that to happen?"

"Just wart did you hear that!"

This is not a good use of the word WART! Smart kids do not use wart to mean what. It is funny though!

Then there are those that hog warts. We call them "WARTHOGS."

Let's take a look a couple of warthogs.

This guy on the left is a REAL wart hog. Yes sir, that is what this animal is called, a wart hog. Wart hogs live in Africa and have a number of conical warts on their cheeks just under their eyes. I think somebody was trying to be funny when they named this poor guy.

Make no mistake about it, this is one tough animal. Look at the tusks on this hog. Tusks are the horns that grow out of the sides of the mouth. I guess when the horns are just starting to grow, they look like big white warts, but I doubt it.

Here are a pair of wart hogs. No, the one wart hog is not looking for warts on the other wart hog, let us try to be a little serious here. Maybe not.

Warts are no big deal. They are caused by a virus and can be treated. If you have a wart, see your parents or a school nurse. They are easy to get rid of.

HOW TO MAKE WARTS

 

BIG UGLY HAIRY WARTS

  • (This is really a hanky thing to do!)

    Ingredients:

    Peppercorns (green and dark ones)
    Corn syrup or clear glue
    Paintbrush bristles, they look like hair
    Watercolors

    Directions:

1 Apply a peppercorn to your hands or face using the corn syrup or eyelash glue. Let stiffen.
2 Dip one end of the hairs from the paintbrush in the syrup or glue.
3 Put them on the peppercorn.
4 Dab brown, red or green and yellow paint on the peppercorns.
5 Let dry.
