"WHAT ARE NOT WOLVES?"



There are many types of animals that people believe to be related to wolves but they are not. We are going to take a quick look at some of these animals.

They appear to be related to the wolf in appearance, but they do not belong as part of Canis Lupus. We know most of these animals. For instance, the foxes we know are not wolves and we also know the wild dog of Africa is not a wolf. There are many animals that are not wolf, but have wolf in their common name.

 

LETS GET ROLLIN'

Animals that are not wolves:

  • Aardwolves - This animal is properly called: Proteles Cristatus and is an insect-eating member of the hyena family. Hyena's, which occur in Africa, are related to cats.
Maned Wolf - This animal is properly called: Chrysocyon Brachyurus and is a South American wild dog.

 

Tasmanian Wolf - This animal is properly called: Thylacinus Cynocephalus and is a marsupial, the same order as kangaroos and possums.

  • Andean Wolf - This animal is properly called: Dasycyon Bagenbecki and is also a South American wild dog.
  • Falkland Wolf - This animal is properly called: Dusicyon Australis and is also a South American wild dog.

Well, it was short and sweet and were done. So lets go onto something new.
